Williamsport Drops 6-3 Decision to ScrappersSpencer Arroyo allowed no runs & 2 hits in his 1st pro debut
June 18 -
The Williamsport Crosscutters are still in search of their first win of the 2008 season after a 6-3 loss in Mahoning Valley on Wednesday night.

The Cutters struck first plating two runs in the third inning.  Second baseman Daniel Hargrave’s bunt single was the only hit of the inning for Williamsport.  A Scrapper error and a hit batter aided the Cutters cause in the frame.

Williamsport would take the 2-0 lead to the bottom of the sixth when the Scrappers started to put it all together against the Cutters relief corps, scoring two in the sixth, three in the seventh and one more in the eighth to seal the victory.

Cutters starting pitcher Spencer Arroyo went three strong innings for Williamsport allowing no runs and two hits, both singles.

Offensively for Williamsport,  Hargrave and first baseman Jeremy Hamilton each had two hits.  All of the Cutters eight hits in the ballgame were singles.

Williamsport will wrap up their season-opening series in Mahoning Valley Thursday night (ESPN 1050), before returning to Bowman Field for the home opener Friday against the Jamestown Jammers.  Tickets are still available online at crosscutters.com or by calling the Cutters Hotline at (570) 326-3389.
