Williamsport Shuts Down Mahoning ValleyWathan notched his 1st pro win Thursday night

The Williamsport Crosscutters picked up their first win of the 2008 campaign in convincing fashion Thursday night in Mahoning Valley with an 8-0 drubbing of the Scrappers.

The Cutters made the most of their hits scoring eight run on eight hits, only one Williamsport run was unearned. 

Outfielder Bryan Frew and second baseman Albert Cambero each had two hits.  Shortstop Troy Hanzawa doubled and drove in two runs. 

RHP Rob Roth pitched six strong innings in picking up the win.  Roth allowed 3 hits and no runs in the outing.  Lefty Korey Noles pitched the final three innings of the shutout allowing just two hits in picking up his first save of the season.

The win marked the first professional managerial victory for first year skipper Dusty Wathan. 

After the game the Cutters announced that Cambero was being promoted to Lakewood (A) on Friday.
