Game Recap

Cutters Drop Game 1 of '08 SawBuck SeriesRHP Vance Worley shined in his 4 innings of work
June 23 - For the 4th night in a row rain played a part in a Cutters home game as the State College Spikes topped the Williamsport Crosscutters 5-3.

RHP Vance Worley made the start for Williamsport pitching 4 strong innings while allowing just 1 hit.

The tide after the rain delay as P Spencer Arroyo relieved Worley, allowing  four runs, three earned, in only an inning and a third of work, amazingly, off of only one hit.

The Cutters offense was paced by 3B Cody Overbeck who went 2-5 with a RBI.

The opener to the SawBuck Series also saw brother against brother as C Travis d’Arnaud would take the field against State College’s Chase d’Arnaud. Travis was 2-4, and Chase was 1-4.

The game was delayed for a total of 1 hour and 18 minutes as rain showers again occupied the Williamsport area for most of the evening.  Rain showers also delayed the home games on Friday and Sunday while washing out the game on Saturday.

The SawBuck Series moves to State College for game #2 on Tuesday night before returning to Williamsport on Wednesday.  Both games can be heard on ESPN 1050 and online at crosscutters.com
