Cutters Lose Big to Cyclones
July 3 - After losing a heartbreaker in the top of the ninth inning Wednesday night, the Williamsport Crosscutters came out flat as they committed four errors and in losing to the Brooklyn Cyclones 12-3.

The starting pitcher for the Cutters, Freddy Ballestas, lasted five innings giving up three runs, two earned, while striking out four. The relief pitching that followed wouldn’t fare as well. Rick Austin, who pitched the sixth, allowed four runs, all earned, on just four hits and saw his ERA balloon to 13.50. Riquy Pena, allowed four runs, one earned, on two hits and walked two in 1 2/3 innings of work. Yen Feng Lin finished the game allowing one run on one hit.

Williamsport scored the majority of their runs in the bottom of the ninth when the game was already out of reach. C Scott Thomas and SS Troy Hanzawa each doubled, with Hanzawa driving in two runs.

The Crosscutters will try to right the ship as they take on Brooklyn in the final game of their three game series Friday at 1:05pm. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050.
