Cutters Win 2nd Straight Over SpikesDe Fratus pitched 7 strong innings in Wednesday's win.
Take 2-1 Lead in SawBuck Series

For the second start in a row, P Justin De Fratus dazzled as he was credited with his first win of the season as the Crosscutters win their second in a row for the first time this season. De Fratus, the Phillies 11th round pick in the 2007 draft, went seven strong innings with eight strikeouts while surrendering only one run.  

The Cutters turned it on offensively in the sixth with consecutive base hits by 2B Brandon Haislet and RF Bryan Frew. C Travis d’Arnaud would bring home a run on a sacrifice fly to center field. After a single by 3B Cody Overbeck, 1B Jeremy Hamilton laced a double down the right field line to score another run. A Scott Thomas sacrifice fly would score another run for the Crosscutters. 

State College would give the Cutters a scare in the 7th when 2B Chad Rice hit a home run off Cutters reliever B.J Rosenberg. Following the run, the Spikes would string together two singles before Rosenberg would regain his composure and take control of the game. A bad bunt attempt by Spikes OF Butch Biela would lead to an easy out at first base. Rosenberg would then get 3B Mathew Hague to strike out and 1B Calvin Anderson to line out to shortstop Troy Hanzawa.  

In the bottom of the 8th the Cutters would not only add an insurance run, but they would put the game out of reach as they put up another three runs.  

The Crosscutters who took two of three in the SawBuck Series will try to build on their momentum as they travel to Jamestown to take on the Jammers Thursday night. The game can be heard on ESPN 1050.    Recap | Box Score
